Staining an Old Deck

This client had a 20+ year old deck that had been unattended to for ages. Old stain was peeling off, and parts hadn't even been stained before! We rejuvenated the old wood, prepped it for staining, and then. applied a single coat of a water based solid stain for best protection.

Take a look at how the old stain was peeling / fading, and how weathered the wood was. Our decks here in Ottawa go through a lot; cold, rigid winters with snow and hail, and blistering hot summers. It's not uncommon for us to encounter decks that are bad shape and need to be brought back to life, just like this one!

After prepping the deck, we applied a single coat of a water based solid stain to give the clients deck a "like new" appearance. This deck hasn't looked this good since it was new, multiple decades ago! Re staining your deck can take years off the appearance and add years to its life!
